I would be leaning towards it being a hardware problem if it weren't for the fact that it consistently resets itself and I still have control through the Output Volume bar Apple advised me to send it in for servicing. Any non-reboot suggestions? Please investigate this issue more fully. They may have designed this better. The little screen appears and it looks like the volume is going up, complete with the little water drop sounds, but it doesn't actually adjust the volume.
