I jumped in & replied that my old PC w/XP & a creative sound card played the music equally (and very nicely) out of all 4 (Klipsch) speakers. Downstream mix also ! but do not work with games well under Windows 7 64bit. Why can't companies who corner a market be held to a higher standard? I have a SoundMax card and now the 5.1 sound is working perfectly ! Note: Again double-post from the Duke Nukem Forever forum. Also in my driver there is an option for 5.1 sound: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/36035190/soundmax.PNG The picture is in Hungarian but you should have a similiar control panel.

But when playing a stereo sound, such as MP3, only the left and right speakers are playing. Does anybody know how to enable upmix in Vista? Getting a separate PCI Sound Card, PCIe ones seem to have issues with SSD drives (some of the Soundblasters), does not seem to be trivial either.
I downloaded the software from the following link and it worked. Go Here I only upgraded Vista, so all of my drivers are as they were before I upgraded. Should the 5.1 sound from a game not be DTS or DD, apparently it is not possible - at least in software (what I read) - to compress the "raw" data All rights reserved. Had to fiddle around with my Kenwood receiver's "Listen Mode" and set that to 6CH analog, was still set to digital. My first is xp32 bit and the X-Fi is superb !
